Design and Technology

Our design and technology curriculum aims to be an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, children  design and make products and become autonomous and creative problem-solvers, both as individuals and as part of a team. They acquire a broad range of subject knowledge which enables them to identify needs and opportunities and to respond by developing ideas and making products and systems. The children also draw on other disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering and computing and have the opportunity to take risks and become resourceful, innovative, enterprising, capable citizens. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, they develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world. We believe that design and technology prepares children to take part in the development of tomorrow’s rapidly changing world
